This is for Sunday, December 28. Today is mostly a travel day.

We got off the boat about 8:30 AM and got on a bus headed towards the airport.

On our way we stopped at this biopark which is a manatee rescue center.

All of the critters here are being protected from something – found injured or something and here to recover. This cage was full of macaws and parrots.

This manatee is 2 years old and being bottle fed milk formula.

A capybara! The largest rodent on the planet. They can exceed 100 pounds in weight. This one was two years old and about 65 pounds. So the size of Zeus. It’s pretty rare to see them in the wild. Jorge said he hasn’t seen one for a year.

These are paiche, a prehistoric looking fish native to the Amazon basin. They can grow 9 to 12 feet long. These were five or six.

We made it to the Iquitos airport around Noon and boarded our flight to Lima around 1:45.

It is approaching 5:30 PM and we are sitting in the lobby of the same hotel we started at a week ago enjoying lattes. We have an 11:00 PM flight out to Rio tonight which will be five or six hours long. Hopefully we will sleep some!

We have a food tour scheduled for tomorrow 11 AM so should be there in plenty of time for that. We will check in again on the other side of all that tomorrow night.

Happy to be back in civilization 😎
