In 2024 we did a Galapagos tour with National Geographic which we absolutely loved. At the end of that tour they announced: if you book your next tour before you get off the boat you get $500 off per person.
Sounded good to us. We sat down with the expedition leader, Jonathan, and asked: what do you have for less than 2 weeks around Christmas 2025? And the answer to that question was: Amazon River cruise that Jonathan would actually be leading.
So that’s what we are doing.

The pin on the map shows where we will get on the boat, a small one with just 14 cabins. We spend 8 days on the boat, with loose promises of seeing parrots, and monkeys, and who knows what else.
After we will head to Iguazu Falls where we will stay one night. And then finish the trip with 2 nights in Rio de Janeiro, heading home on New Year’s night.
I am writing this now from the Sacramento airport where we are catching a redeye Friday night to go to Miami. We have an eight hour layover there before heading to Lima, Peru. We will meet up with the tour there Sunday morning and away we will go.
It’s going to be a wild ride and we look forward to having you along. I have no idea what kind of Wi-Fi connection we are going to have on this trip so we’ll see how much posting I can actually get done. It will be what it will be.
We hope you have a great holiday season however you are spending it.
